Finavia is investing 900 million euros in the development of Helsinki Airport. The aim of the development programme is to strengthen the position of Helsinki Airport in both the international competition between airports and as a significant airline hub between Europe and Asia. The development programme, started in 2014, is worth around 1 billion euros and targeted to be completed by 2022.
Boost Brothers has been assigned to develop the project management systems and methods of T2-Alliance, the consortium carrying out the Helsinki airport expansion project. The assignment is focused on managing the scope of Helsinki airport construction project. In particular, managing the scope includes planning and accounting for uncertainties and changes that potentially emerge during the design, construction and use of the airport. Moreover, project target-based decision-making especially in terms of HVAC system design and implementation is developed in every phase of the project.
T2-Alliance started their work in 2017, and on-site construction work is completed during the next three years. The project is very large, technically challenging and rapidly completed. Furthermore, building user needs evolve and fluctuate over time, which highlights the importance of managing uncertainty and change orders.
